The section of the Lawrence Loop from 7th Street to Constant Park is one of the remaining incomplete sections, located adjacent to, yet disconnected from, downtown Lawrence, and is an area rich with history. It is also one of the more complicated sections, with potential railroad crossings, private property, and busy road crossings. When fully complete, the Loop will provide a continuous urban greenway of over 22 miles around the City.
The City of Lawrence is exploring funding opportunities to support the final design and construction of the Loop’s missing portion. Throughout the fall of 2023 and into early 2024, the City will conduct a community engagement process, building off successful prior community engagement, to support a successful RAISE grant application.
On Wednesday, December 13th the city hosted an Open House at the Carnegie Building in Lawrence. At the come and go style of event, participants learned more about the project and had the ability to ask questions City staff and consultants to answer. There was a feedback form available to provide feedback on the project.
