Get Out There: Sanders Mound Trail

The Sanders Mound Trail is a half-mile one direction paved trail that takes you to two natural trails. From the end of the paved trail you can choose to go right to the Clinton Lake North Shore trail through native restoration or go left to go up to the top of the Sanders Mound Vista. The Sanders Mound Trail begins the the intersection of the Lawrence Loop Arboretum segment and E 900 Road which goes over the Clinton Lake Damn.

Sanders Mound is also known as Faerie Mound. At the top of the Vista the point protrudes into Clinton Lake near the dam. Sanders Mound is a good place to sit on the park bench provided and watch the reflection of a sunset shimmering on the water. There is also an off-shoot paved path that leads to a shelter house at the top of the hill.

The trail begins at E 900 Road which goes over the Clinton Lake Damn and is a straight ahead of where the Loop section 8 turns to go north toward Rock Chalk Park
