Contribute to restoration of the Burroughs Creek Corridor!

Friends of Lawrence Area Trails congratulates Midco and the Native Lands Restoration Collaborative for the opening of the Midco Prairie at 210 E. Seventh Street on Thursday, October 22. It is exciting to have this native green space available to the public in downtown Lawrence (and we are also excited about the native plants mural by Mona Cliff that is in progress next to the park!).

Native Lands is also involved in another important local effort to restore the banks of the Burroughs Creek and its tributaries from Haskell Indians Nations University north to 15th Street, an area that is home to one of Lawrence’s most highly-utilized trail, the Burroughs Creek Trail. FLAT has long seen the green space in “linear parks” that house trails as an opportunity to strengthen habitat, improve water quality, an restore landscapes of ecological and cultural significance.

In support of this project, Friends of Lawrence Area Trails committed matching funds for the first $500 raised in support of this project. Native Lands has raised those funds, and is about 14% of the way to its goal of $30,000. PLEASE show your support for this vital project! Visit here to learn more and contribute. Thank you!
