Construction Continues on the Newest Loop Segment

Progress continues on the construction of the Lawrence Loop from Peterson Park to North Michigan Street.

New concrete paths on either side of McDonald Drive have been poured. One of these sections begins in Peterson Park at the corner of Peterson Road and North Iowa Street and crosses Iowa before passing north of the Hallmark Production Facility. The other section begins on Michigan Street, north of 2nd Street. A crossing with a pedestrian signal has been added for trail users to cross Michigan.

A crane and other large equipment can be seen at the construction site that are being utilized to build a bridge (on the east side of the turnpike entrance) and to construct the tunnel that will go under the turnpike entrance on McDonald Drive that will connect the two recently-constructed segments.

Construction of the new segment began in February and is expected to be completed this summer.
