This segment of the Lawrence Loop is a scenic path that starts at Sandra Shaw Community Health Park. It goes around a small pond and runs alongside the Kansas River. You can see downtown Lawrence from this section.

The trail passes by the KU Rowing Boathouse, and passes through Burcham Park. This wooded trail runs a half-mile along the river before it comes to an end at an rail crossing. From there trail users can continue up a small hill to Constant and Robinson Parks.

You can see the Kansas River, Bowersock Hydroelectric, and Massachusetts Street bridges from the trail.

The rest of the Loop is disconnected from this section. There are no Lawrence Loop signs along this section.
