FLAT recognizes that trails can connect us in many ways. We are excited about this project to help connect us to an important piece of Lawrence history!

The Lawrence Arts Center, in collaboration with a number of community partners, is seeking a professional artist or artist teams to develop a public work of art to honor the Mexican American community of La Yarda, a housing unit created by the Santa Fe Railroad to house workers that stood from 1920-51. Historic signage will accompany artwork, which will be installed along the Lawrence Loop, near the former site of La Yarda and close to the Warehouse Arts District. For more information:
