Construction of a bridge on the Michigan side of the new trail

New Lawrence Loop Construction Update

The majority of the concrete and dirt work on the new Peterson Park to North Michigan Street Lawrence Loop is complete. Work in preparation for the tunnel on the Michigan side of the turnpike is in ongoing. A crane is in place on the east side of the turnpike above the work site. Construction of a bridge over a small creek is in beginning. The bridge will provide access to the tunnel to be built under the turnpike. The tunnel will connect the Peterson Park to the turnpike and Michigan Street segments of the new trail.

The newest part of the Lawrence Loop begins at Peterson Park and continues east, passing north of the Hallmark Production Facility. It will pass under the turnpike continuing to North Michigan Street. Peterson Park is located at the intersection of Peterson Road and North Iowa Street.

Construction of the new segment began in February and is expected to be completed this summer.
